Abstract

A study was undertaken on the mammary gland tumors from five female cats at 8 to 11
years old, in some veterinary clinics in Ha Noi. Feline mammary gland tumors were commonly
found in the intact queens and mostly showed malignancy. The tumors were hard with size
ranging from 0.5 to 3 cm, swollen, hemorrhage and ulceration. Base on histological features,
the tumors were common types of feline mammary carcinomas, such as: solid carcinoma,
cribriform carcinoma, and tubule papillary carcinoma. The neoplastic epithelial cells had round
to pleomorphic shapes with round to oval nuclei and abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm. The
mitotic figures were frequently found in variable number. The neoplastic cells were commonly
invaded into the vascular or lymphatic system and lymph node metastasis. The studied results
suggested that check and collection of the lymph node samples from feline mammary gland
tumors play an important role in the clinical check-up.
