Calculation and simulation of the excitation system, the PSS and the synchronous generator of GE manufacturer

Abstract

Using classic block model units of excitation system and Phillips-Hefferon PSS units for simulation purpose.
The excitation system and its parameters are modeled according to the design documents of the contractor. The
PSS model is modeled after the contractor's design document refering to IEEE 421.5–2005 standard. The
coefficients in the model are calculated according to the paper of Demello F.P and Concordia, C . The T’d0, M
coefficients are searched in the contractor's tubine generator parameter document. The simulation results
compared with the experimental results released by the testing contractor show good matching level. Therefore,
this simulation calculation can be applied to other GE units in assessing the effect of the coefficients in the
excitation system and the PSS.
