The paper presents the fuzzy controller programmed in a very high speed integrated circuit-hardware description
language (VHDL) to control a two-axis system. Each axis is driven by a Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous
Motor (PMLSM). The position controller is used with fuzzy algorithm with parameters adjusted by Radial Basic
Function Neural Network (RBFNN). The Field Programmable Gate Array chip (FPGA) is used to control both
axes of the system. The VHDL code was developed in Quartus II software environment, provided by altera to
analyze and synthesize designs. The co-simulation results on Matlab/Simulink/ModelSim proved the
effectiveness of the control system, determining the exact position and trajectory of the XY axis system.
