Abstract

At Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PVN), the circular economy is thoroughly integrated in the development strategy towards the goals of efficient exploitation and use of the country's resources, ensuring efficient and sustainable operation. Accordingly, the links within the value chain of the Group's activities were gradually formed, and at the same time, the issue of recycling and reducing emissions from production activities was strengthened. At Dung Quat Oil Refinery, every year, 350 tons of RFCC waste catalysts have been reused. Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant has also utilized permeate gas from Ca Mau Power Plant to recover methane components to serve as fuel for nitrogen production. Since 2007, PVN, JX NIPPON and JOGMEC have conducted CO2-EOR feasibility studies and pilot test at Rang Dong Oil Field in 2011. According to VPI (2022), PVN can develop and apply new technologies to convert CO2 into chemicals, clean fuels and advanced materials to serve the domestic market demand, contributing to reducing nearly 37 million tons of CO2 per year by 2030. The application of recycling and reuse activities at PVN's production facilities not only contributes to improving operational efficiency but also creates a premise for developing a circular economy model and forming the links within the value chain, towards sustainable operations.
