Abstract

Abstract: In recent years, deprivation of nationality has been resorted to by many
states. This measure has significantly negative effects on individuals and in the worst
scenarios, can result in statelessness. Given the significance of nationality, a
comparative analysis of international law on deprivation of nationality and Vietnamese
legislation on the same matter is crucial and warranted. This paper examines the
definition, legal nature, and conditions for deprivation of nationality under international
law, along with recommendations for Viet Nam’s legal framework on this matter.
