Abstract

The complex and rapidly changing social context today presents both urgent demands and challenges for the education sector in ensuring students' positive and healthy psychological well-being. As a result, the role of psychological counseling for students needs to be emphasized in every school. Student counseling in educational activities is one of the key competencies that enables teachers to effectively support students and foster a conducive learning environment. Psychological counseling competence is essential and meaningful in education. To assess the psychological counseling competence of learners, particularly secondary education students in teacher training programs, it is necessary to establish a system of assessment criteria with specific indicators. Therefore, in this article, we propose criteria for evaluating the psychological counseling competence of secondary education students in teacher training programs, aiming to enhance student learning outcomes and meet the demands of the current general education reform. The research results affirm the scientific and practical significance and the necessity of improving the teacher training programs in universities, thereby enhancing the quality of school counselors in general education institutions.
