Abstract

Social skills, including communication, negotiation, self-assertion, cooperation, and teamwork, play a crucial role in both academic and professional life. Children with autism spectrum disorder often face difficulties in developing these skills. However, research on the use of social stories shows significant improvement in their social abilities, especially when exercises involve familiar and easy-to-understand language, along with visual aids. Practice time is also considered a key factor influencing the effectiveness of social skills development for children with autism spectrum disorder, offering new possibilities for supporting their integration into the community. The content of the article deals with basic issues such as: 1) Characteristics of social skills of children with autism spectrum disorder 5-6 years old; 2) Building social stories applied in developing social skills for children with autism spectrum disorder 5-6 years old with the proposal of the process of building social stories applied in developing social skills for children with autism spectrum disorder 5-6 years old and providing illustrations of building social stories applied in developing social skills for children with autism spectrum disorder 5-6 years old at inclusive primary school.
