Potential and challenges of applying artificial intelligence in early childhood education

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is creating numerous new opportunities while also posing challenges in the field of early childhood education. This article synthesizes recent studies on the potential and difficulties of applying AI in early childhood education, particularly in the context of Vietnam. The research findings indicate that AI offers significant benefits, such as personalized learning, intelligent educational content creation, progress analysis of children's learning, enhancing teaching effectiveness for teachers, and encouraging the development of children's creative skills. However, the implementation of AI still faces challenges, including the lack of appropriate teacher training programs, high technology adoption costs, issues related to student data security, and unequal access to technology across regions. The article emphasizes the necessity of addressing these challenges to fully exploit the potential of AI, thereby contributing to improving the quality of early childhood education in Vietnam.
