Abstract
Caregivers play an increasingly important role in intervening and supporting children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in the family environment. Engaging caregivers in and coaching them to implement interventions for children at home is becoming increasingly common in many countries around the world, including Vietnam. This paper aims to provide a descriptive overview of the current status of coaching programs for caregivers intervening for children with ASD in the family environment in Vietnam. Using a literature review through qualitative analysis based on deductive reasoning, the paper describes and analyzes coaching programs for caregivers to intervening children with ASD in Vietnam. The thematic qualitative data analysis shows that coaching caregiver programs to implement intervention for children with ASD in Vietnam have been initially implemented diversely. This includes adapting existing international programs or developing new ones. Parent coaching activities have been built and implemented but have not been widely disseminated. The guidance programs for children with ASD in Vietnam are only described at an introductory level, lacking systematic research reports and scientific publications on the trial or application of these programs. Therefore, in the future, it is necessary to promote empirical research to provide scientific evidence of the effectiveness and feasibility of implementing coaching programs for caregivers to provide intervention for children with ASD in the family context within Vietnam's socio-cultural environment.
