Abstract

Identity is a widely utilized concept across various disciplines, notably within the social sciences and humanities, and in specialized fields of study. From a gender perspective in literary studies, an examination of identity within literature and specifically gender identity can illuminate certain aspects of literary life, particularly concerning the creative mechanisms of the authorial subject within the magnetic field of cultural contexts and social life. This study, by exploring the creative lives of contemporary Vietnamese women writers, will approach several facets of gender identity. Through an investigation of identity-forming elements, the article will delve into characteristics that demonstrate historically specific gender expression and its impact on the creative practices of women writers post-1975, amidst a period of profound societal shifts and transformations.
