Abstract
This study focuses on analyzing the role and potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in supporting teachers in designing English lessons oriented to competency development for secondary school students. In the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, integrating AI into education is not only an inevitable trend but also an essential solution to improve teaching quality and meet the requirements of the 2018 General Education Curriculum. The article presents a systematic 5-step process for lesson design with AI, from goal identification to experimentation and learning from experience. The study also introduces popular AI tools such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Claude AI, along with effective prompt writing techniques according to the CLEAR principle. Through practical examples of lesson design for grades 6, 7, 8, and 9, the research demonstrates that AI can help teachers save time, diversify teaching methods, and personalize learning content according to each student's level. The research results show that AI plays a powerful supporting role, helping teachers focus on interacting with and caring for each student while integrating the four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in lessons in a balanced manner.
