Abstract

Phan Huy Ich (1751-1822) was one of the great writers of Vietnamese medieval literature. He took the examination and became a mandarin of Le Dynasty; however, he got the highest position in Tay Son Dynasty as Minister of Rites. He left a total of 531 poems written in Han with a variety of contents. Through these poems, the author had a chance of expressing his positive time view; leaving a thought of a confucian scholar who was always enthusiastic with his dynasty and country as well as the beauty of the soul of a poet towards nature with leisure desire. Since then, his Chinese poetry has become a place to send and entrust valuable ideological inspirations not only of an era but it has also been and forever be the sympathy of the scholar.
