Abstract

The article focuses on analyzing the legal aspects of cryptocurrencies in Vietnam in the context of a rapidly developing digital economy. Vietnam is among the countries with a high rate of cryptocurrency users, but the legal framework has not kept up with reality, mainly at the orientation level. This situation creates a legal gap, both limiting development opportunities and posing potential risks to financial security and fraud. Based on the practical assessment, the article points out both the opportunities and challenges that cryptocurrencies bring, from digital transformation, asset diversification to the risk of speculation and cross-border money laundering. From there, the article proposes solutions to improve the legal framework for cryptocurrencies in Vietnam. This is an urgent requirement for Vietnam to balance innovation and risk control, towards safe integration into the global digital economy.
