Abstract

This article focuses on analyzing the legal obligations of religious institutions in land use as stipulated in the 2024 Land Law. Based on the classification of land use purposes, the Law clearly defines the responsibilities  of religious organizations to use land in accordance with its designated purpose, comply with land use planning, and fulfill financial obligations when utilizing land for activities beyond religious purposes. Notably, when conducting social activities such as education, healthcare, community welfare, or commercial operations, religious organizations are required to separate their legal entity status and comply with the relevant specialized laws. The establishment of land use obligations on the principles of equality, transparency, and control contributes to the improvement of the land management framework applicable to this distinct group of stakeholders, while also reflecting a trend towards enhancing the legal effectiveness in the governance of national land resources.
