Abstract

The estuary is an Ecoton of the river and the sea, a unit of the terrtory, characterized by high biodiversity, full of resourses, but it is very sensitive to natural and human activities. Therefore, its landscape and resources very easely fall into declination caused by irrational exploitation and utilization without integrated planning from ecological viewpoint.

This paper presents some characteristics of structure and reactions of components that forms the estuarine ecosystem. It creates the scientific foundation for planning and optimum solutions to the exploitation and utilization of the estuarine resources for suistainable development.
