Tax Policies of the French Colonialists in Central Vietnam at the beginning of 20th Century
Abstract
After having pacified Indochina, the French colonists immediately started their colonial exploitation activities, as well as consolidating their ruling apparatus. For the region of Central Vietnam, the French colonial administration and lackeys applied a variety of tax policies to stabilize their status and organize their colonial governing. Their tax policies in Central Vietnam reflects the nature of the colonization regime that the French colonists conducted in eastern Indonesia from 1897.
