Rural environment in Nguyen Thi Viet Ha short stories from eco-criticism

Abstract

Eco-criticism is a trend to study the relationship between literature and the natural environment, not only focussing on exploring the eco-aesthetics, but clarifying its artist expressions in literature works; through which, rethinking the culture of human behavior towards the ecological environment. The theory of eco-criticism is in sharo contrast to traditional criticism: Earth, not human centralism. Applying eco-criticism theory to study Nguyen Thi Viet Ha’s short stories is a new and unique approach, thereby realizing the relationship between humans and nature as well as the writer’s attitude towards the issue of ecology.
