Abstract

Smart Cities (SC) are a strategic solution and an inevitable development trend for our country's cities to address the pressure on infrastructure systems. In this context, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the optimal tool to support planning and management of technical infrastructure systems (transportation, water supply and drainage, energy, environmental sanitation, etc.) towards smart urban development. AI applications support self-adjusting, flexible systems through the processing of Big Data. Cities in Vietnam have made initial progress in applying AI (application of GIS, BIM, IOC pilot projects in Hanoi and Da Nang). However, the development of smart cities faces major challenges in terms of data sources, legal framework limitations, investment costs, etc. Promoting AI application, accelerating the digital transformation process, and enhancing the efficiency of planning and managing technical infrastructure systems are the foundations for ensuring sustainable urban development.
