Abstract

Changes and adjustments for a favorable investment environment in foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction policies and low-cost labor conditions have attracted foreign corporations to invest in India. Ever since the economic reform in 1991, India has made remarkable FDI achievements. Most projects invested in India through the automatic route have made it the world’s 7th largest recipient of FDI in 2021. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, India received the highest-ever FDI inflows of US$ 84.84 billion in fiscal year 2021-2022. Although the total amount of FDI in 2022-2023 has decreased compared to the previous year, it is expected to increase again, and India will remain a potential country that investors are targeting.
