Abstract

France, among others, experiences the deepest and most lasting cultural interference with Vietnam. During the years of domination, the French colonialists introduced several governance policies, including “Francization” in many areas. Accordingly, in terms of language, the influence of French was soon promoted on Vietnamese, so did the power of France on Vietnam. Against this background, the system of French loanwords in Vietnamese was born. The article presents the layers of French loanwords in cuisine and their survival to this day to demonstrate the strong cultural interference between the two countries.
