The Role of US-Russia Economic Relations in the Formation of a New World Economic Order

Abstract

The US-Russia economic relationship has received less attention than geopolitical or political relations of the two powers. During the Cold War, the United States and the Soviet Union (most of which was inherited by Russia) had opposing ideologies and completely different economic and political systems. Entering the 21st century, in the face of changes in both global and regional context with signs of the formation of the world economic order, US - Russia economic relations have had a significant impact on the general landscape. On that basis, the article focuses on the following main contents: (i) A new world economic order; (ii), Overview of US - Russia economic relations in the period 2001-2020; (iii) Comment on the US - Russia economic relationship with respect to the world economic order.
