Abstract

The Yen The peasant movement was one of the most resilient and long-lasting anti-French movements in pre-modern Vietnam. For about 30 years (1884-1913), the peasant insurgent leaders managed to stand firm in their own homeland fighting against the invaders. A special feature of the Yen The peasant movement is the emergence of “fighting villages” in such villages as Huu Nhue, Cao Thuong, Sat, of which Sat village is the most typical. The paper studies more about the “Sat village case” in this movement through some French documents as one of the first practical indicators of people's war method of modern times.
