Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, frontline healthcare workers directly involved and endured the greatest pressure which had profound impacts on their physical and mental well-being. Recent studies have focused on the effects of the Covid-19 on mental health, and the experiences of stigma, discrimination, and violence against healthcare workers during the pandemic outbreak. From an ethnographic/ anthropological perspective, and based on fieldwork carried out in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, this article provides another view highlighting the lived experiences of the Covid-19 frontline healthcare workers and the pressures they faced. Based on these insights, the article offers several recommendations for improving preventive healthcare services and minimizing negative impacts on this workforce in the event of similar future epidemics.
