Intention to Remarry After Divorce and Influencing Factors

By means of a secondary literature review and in-depth analysis of 10 cases selected from a total of 30 survey samples, applying the rational choice theory, the paper analyzes the remarriage intentions of men and women after divorce, thereby identifying the similarities and gender differences in this intention. In addition, factors promoting or hindering the remarriage decision of men and women are also revealed. Findings show that women are more open in their decision to remarry and have higher expectations of their marriage partners than men. Men are often more influenced by their previous marriage, while women by social networks and media. Meanwhile, both men and women are equally influenced by children.
