Abstract

The article employs an interdisciplinary approach of history, archaeology, and religious studies, combining a diachronic analytical framework to reconstruct the historical appearance and religious function of Quỳnh Lâm Pagoda - a center of Buddhism in the Eastern Region. The geopolitical and cultural factors of the Đông Triều area are emphasized through three key factors, namely, the homeland of Tran dynasty, relics, and religion, which have transformed this place into a convergence of knowledge, royal power, and monastic wealth. At the same time, the article extensively examines records related to Quỳnh Lâm Pagoda through various sources. Although absent in official historical records, Quỳnh Lâm Pagoda emerges as a sacred symbol through local chronicles, inscriptions, and Sino-Vietnamese texts, closely associated with spiritual elements, power, and religious patronage.
