Some Issues on Developmental Trends of Forms of Ownership, Economic Sectors and Types of Business in Vietnam
Abstract
The development of the socialist-oriented market economy in Vietnam reveals various trends in the forms of ownership, economic sectors and types of business. Based on statistics of the 1995-2016 period, this paper describes main characteristics of these trends, in which the proportions of state ownership and state sector in both total investment and Gross Domestic Products (GDP) have progressively decreased while those of private ownership and non-state sector increased relevantly. Likewise, the proportion of sole proprietorship has decreased, while those of multiple ownership, especially joint-stock companies, have shown an opposite trend. On affirming that these trends have come forth as part of the market-oriented economy, the paper makes several policy-related suggestions concerning the development of forms of ownership, economic sectors and types of business in Vietnam.Downloads
