China's Economic and Political Highlights in 2017
Abstract
The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party is considered a typical event in the political life of China in 2017. Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era has become an guiding political ideology pushing forward a new round of the Chinese reform and opening-up in the new period. Defined in the Charter of the Communist Party of China, such thought is also reaffirmed in the amended and supplemented Constitution in 2018. The Party and State institutions and their corresponding positions were continually rearranged after the 19th National Congress (CCP), the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the 13th National People’s Congress of China. Economically, China has shifted focus to enhancing quality and efficiency of the development. The paper features highlights in the Chinese economic and political life in 2017 and its outlook for 2018.Downloads
