Food Tourism: The World's Examples and Practice in Vietnam

Abstract

While the concept of “food tourism” emerged two decades ago, it has been recognized and developed by numerous countries into a fascinating form of tourism, only ranking behind cultural tourism and nature tourism. Meanwhile, food tourism in Vietnam has only been discussed in a few papers and workshops and carried out by some tourist travel agencies individually, rather than at the strategic level. This article summarizes food tourism examples in the world through a literature review, thus clarifying the current situation in Vietnam and making suggestions for promoting such type of tourism in the coming time.
