Abstract

Multiculturalism was adopted as a social policy in several Western nations from the 1960s onward to respond to the cultural diversity resulting from immigrant communities. Not only a state policy, multiculturalism also acts as a philosophy that addresses the relationship between cultural diversity and unity. In the philosophy of multiculturalism, different solutions are suggested to resolve cultural conflicts including protection of cultural diversity, multicultural education and cultural tolerance.
