Abstract

From the 1980s to the early years of the 21st century, the process of globalization, regionalization and international economic integration took place strongly under the leadership of the United States. A multitude of U.S. Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) were signed and took effect during this period. However, after President Donald Trump came to power (2009-2017), U.S. foreign economic cooperation policy had changed, especially towards China. Although the 46th U.S. President Joe Biden’s policy towards China has not significantly changed, its economic cooperation trend has been adjusted to a more flexible state. Vietnam with its geostrategic location in Southeast Asia would enjoy many opportunities for economic cooperation with the U.S. to promote its economic development and continue the process of integration in the coming period.
