The impact of social security and poverty on the sustainable development of ethnic minorities (Analysis of the southern Khmer people)

Abstract

In the progress of industrialization and modernization aiming for “a prosperous people, strong country, democracy, fairness and civilization”, the Mekong Delta faces both general issues of the country and difficulties of an area where various minorities stay and working for a sustainable growth. Also, it is the challenges of poverty asking for a proper attention. On the basis of projects as well as scientific researches on culture, religion and the poverty reduction in minorities’ living areas, author has described and analyzed the connection between social, historical characteristics and the poverty towards the sustainable growth of minorities, especially Khmer people in South Vietnam.
