Abstract

Private enterprises in Southwest Vietnam (also known as the Mekong delta) have grown in number in recent years. Their growth quality, however, is not compatibly improved as indicated by effi ciency measures. More importantly, the development of private enterprises has not been commensurate with the region’s potentialities such as agriculture and tourism. Apart from the need for an administration reform, various issues hindering the development of private enterprises require to be resolved as well. Thus, there is a strong urge for changes in private sector policies in order to increase their opportunities for growth and development.
