Characteristics of Sino-Nom Funeral Oration in Binh Dinh

Abstract

The authors introduce initial research findings of a literary genre of Binh Dinh’s Sino-Nom literature based on the Sino-Nom funeral orations and information collected through fieldwork in Binh Dinh province. The findings highlight unique features of these Sino-Nom documents, a genre with a ritual function adopting sorrowful tone that has brought new cultural values into the development process of Binh Dinh’s literature.
