Artistic Fiction in Historical Novels: New Opportunities for Novels and History

Abstract

Historical fiction has recently sparked an interest among Vietnamese writers and researchers. Much has been discussed, including opposing opinions, about the matter of fiction in historical novels. This paper deals with different viewpoints of the relationship between historical reality and artistic fiction in historical fiction; thereby asserting that artistic fiction has opened up new opportunities for both novels and history as well.
