Integrating GIS and Open-Source Python Libraries for Land Clearance Compensation and Visualization: A Case Study of a Rural Road in Go Xoai Hamlet, Tan Trung Commune, Go Cong City, Tien Giang Province

Abstract
To support the calculation of compensation and the visualization of information related to land
clearance, this study applies open-source Python libraries in combination with Geographic Information
System (GIS) technology. The approach was experimentally implemented on a rural road project in Go
Xoai Hamlet, Tan Trung Commune, Go Cong City, Tien Giang Province. The results show that the
integration of GIS and Python significantly improved data processing and spatial analysis, enabling
rapid identification of land acquisition areas, precise compensation calculation, and effective
visualization through land use value maps and statistical charts. Among the land types, irrigated rice
land (LUC) accounted for the highest proportion, representing 57.3% of the total compensation value in
the area—substantially higher than perennial crop land (CLN) and rural residential land (ONT). These
findings suggest that the proposed approach not only meets the practical requirements of land use
planning and management in rural areas undergoing infrastructure development, but also contributes
to the digital transformation and modernization of public land administration.
