Solutions to standardization of place names in Tay Nguyen Plateau

Abstract

Standardization of place names in Tay Nguyen Plateau of Vietnam is an extremely difficult task due to the linguistic characteristics of the ethnic groups living in this area. The paper propose a solution on standardization of place names in Tay Nguyen Plateau based on combination of all the principles of the place names translation applied by the UN Expert Team on the place naming and the National Technical Standard on Place Names Standardization that was issued by Vietnam Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
