Application of BIM in Railway Infrastructure Construction Investment Projects

Abstract

The article presents the necessity and prominent benefits of applying Building Information Modeling (BIM) in railway infrastructure investment projects. This is an inevitable trend in the context of transportation infrastructure modernization, especially as BIM has demonstrated outstanding effectiveness in improving the quality of design, construction, and operational management. The paper also analyzes the experience of BIM implementation in several developed countries, thereby identifying practical difficulties and challenges in applying it to the railway sector. Based on the assessment of the current status of BIM adoption in Vietnam, the article conducts a SWOT analysis to clarify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Finally, the article propose several specific solutions and recommendations to promote the effective application of BIM, in line with Vietnam’s technical conditions, legal framework, and available resources.
