Identifying the criteria for evaluating subcontractors” construction quality performance in construction projects in the Ho Chi Minh City

Abstract

This study identifies the criteria for evaluating subcontractors” construction quality performance in construction projects in the Ho Chi Minh City. By conducting a review of previous studies and obtaining expert opinions, this study has identified 11 criteria and 3 main groups of criteria for evaluating the construction quality performance of subcontractors. The following are the five most important evaluation criteria: (1) Experience in implementing similar projects; (2) Rework percentage; (3) Competence of qualified personnel; (4) Construction quality (in accordance with specifications); and (5) Skill of workers. This study hopes to give the main contractors/owners a specific view on the criteria for evaluating the construction quality performance of subcontractors, thereby building an evaluation framework to select suitable subcontractors.
