Abstract
The Muong people have lived for a long time in valleys, surrounded by hills and rivers, creating rich livelihood activities, in which the income from the forest accounts for a large proportion. The forest closing and opening ceremonies are essential rituals in the religious and cultural activities of the Muong people, demonstrating the bond between the people and the environment, the respect of the people for the forest and mountain gods, and awareness of protecting the long-term benefits of nature. The article introduces data about the forest closing and opening ceremonies of the Muong people in Minh Hoa commune (Yen Lap district, Phu Tho province), contributing to clarifying these practices and their meaning.
