Cross-border Labour Migration of Tay and Nung People in Lang Son Province: Current Situation and Problems

Abstract
The article clarifies the current situation of cross-border labour migration of Tay and Nung people in three border communes of Loc Binh, Cao Loc, and Van Lang districts, Lang Son province. The results show that geographical conditions, ethnic relations and experiences in agricultural production bring job opportunities to the Tay and Nung people in the studied area. Cross-border labour migration contributes significantly to household income, but many challenges and risks have arisen for migrants, especially women. The shift of migration flows from cross-border labour migration to internal migration and the development of some new local livelihood models after the COVID-19 pandemic show that these are possible and potential directions and capacity for employment and income for the Tay and Nung people in the border areas of Lang Son Province.
