Some Impacts of Labour Migration to China of Tay and Nung People in the Border Area of Lang Son Province

Abstract
In the context of global integration and development, labour migration is one of the socioeconomic issues. Forms of labour migration in our country have become increasingly complex, with diverse sizes, subjects, components…, creating a colourful picture containing issues that need attention. Cross-border labour migration is a common phenomenon affecting many aspects of the lives of ethnic minorities. Based on the research results of Tay and Nung people in three villages in two border communes of Lang Son province (Thanh Long commune, Van Lang district, and Bao Lam commune, Cao Loc district) in 2021 and 2022, the article initially explores the impact of hired labour migration to China on some aspects of the lives of the Tay and Nung. These include household income and expenditure, building of local Party and mass organisations, and the emergence of social evils and problems in family relations in the years before the COVID-19 pandemic.
