Abstract

: Due to drought and salinity intrusion, livelihood transformation and access to capital in the two communities in the coastal dunes of the Ca Mau peninsula are happening enormously within the context of households' economic development in the region. The adaptation to increasingly harsh conditions of climate change and sea-level rise is obvious to the communities. To understand the communities’ livelihood transformation, especially the two studied communities, My Thanh hamlet (Soc Trang province) and Bay hamlet (Ca Mau province), it is necessary to pay attention to the analysis of the change in livelihood capitals varying between one locality to another or between income groups. On the other hand, the need to focus on the specificity of the ethnic groups residing in the coastal dunes in the current livelihood transformation is supposed to be a concern. Those analyses contribute to identifying urgent issues related to ethnic policies in the Ca Mau peninsula in the context of climate change and sea-level rise.
