Cultural Ecology of Relationship between Home Gardens and Elderly in a Village of Viet People before Renovation

Abstract

The writing is a survey finding of home gardens in a suburban village of Hanoi capital. From the view of farmers, besides its economic benefit, the gardens also bring environmental, health, cultural and social benefits. The research result also indicated that the home gardens are space constructed and cared mainly by elderly; creating sticking bond between elderly and next generations; to transmit folk knowledge and experience of labour in combination with health care; the gardening has positive effect on health of elderly
