A Look at Ethnicity and Nation-State Community in Vietnam

Abstract

The writing indicates clearly that in the multi-ethnic country like Vietnam, the essence of relationship of ethnicity and nation-state community is the relationship between ethnicities and Nation-state, and the nature of this relationship is the ensuring principle of unity from diversity. In the background of industrialization, modernization and international integration in Vietnam, the construction of a nation-state community is facing new challenges of completeness of territorial sovereignty, political, economic, social and cultural unity of this super-community of populations with increasingly difference of ethnicity, religion and social groups. With the above difficulties, contradictions and potentiality of local conflicts, the Nation-state’s administration of construction of the nation-state community is necessary to be risen to a new high level and thus it is needed to have the contribution of many scientific fields, especially politics, philosophy, ethnology, history, culture studies and related scientific disciplines.
