Some Socio-cultural Changes of the Co-tu in the Agrong Village Influenced by the Formation and Development of the Administrative Center in Tay Giang District, Quang Nam Province

Abstract

This article finds that during the period 2005-2012 due to the impact of the construction and development of the district administrative center, the    Co-tu community in Agrong village experienced many changes in its socio-cultural life. The specific changes include a sharp increase in population; mixed residence between ethnic groups; and changes in the structure and organization of rural villages, types and structures of houses, as well as arrangement of living space within the house. Besides, challenges in the Co-tu community increased, particularly, shortage of land for housing, especially in the case of young households, and an increasing gap between the rich and the poor.
