The Approach and Methods of Treatment, Intervention of Autism Syndrome of Children: A Case of Big Group in the Hanoi Autism Club

Abstract

From the view of Medical Anthropology, this article investigates into the impacts of cultural elements on the selection of treatment methods, intervention for the autism children and the application of modern methods originating from the developed countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia etc., to the socio-economic and cultural conditions of Vietnam. This article points out clearly the medical pluralism applied for treatment and care of the autism children. It is a combination of many different methods including the traditional and modern methods, Western and Oriental medicines, interpretation and treatment in scientific and psychical ways in which the parents play an important role in the process of treatment, intervention for the autism children. However, the practice needs the management and inspection of the professional agencies and the assistance of communities, society to facilitate the autism children to make progress and to grow into the independent people, reducing the burden for their families, communities and society.
