The Current Unofficial Social Institutions of the Cham Ethnic Group

Abstract

Cham religious characteristics are divided into 4 sub-groups: Brahman, Bani, Islam, and Hroi. Each sub-group has its own residential locations, religious dignitaries, and some specific social institutions. Some of the Cham Islamic institutions are extending their activities into different areas of economic development such as social management, cultural preservation and environmental protection. These developments have been influenced by the new mechanism and international integration. This is also a new model of rapid and stable development in rural areas.
