Abstract

This paper presents a study on the kinematic simulation and force characteristics of the pneumatic drive system applied in the leg press device. The translational motion of the piston under the effect of pneumatic pressure is described, in which the activation force, resistance force and system hysteresis are fully considered. The simulation is performed using COMSOL Multiphysics with the Global ODEs and DAEs module to analyze the displacement, velocity, acceleration and force responses over time. The results show that the pneumatic system has a clear hysteresis in the pressurization phase, the velocity reaches its maximum in a short time after activation and the resistance force plays an important role in stabilizing the piston motion. The obtained analysis contributes to a clearer description of the response characteristics of the pneumatic drive system, thereby serving as a reference basis for the design and adjustment of the operating parameters of the leg press device.
