Abstract

Due to challenges in economic development, limited land for production, and a lack of job opportunities, labor migration within and outside the country has become a priority for many Bru-Van Kieu people in the Vietnam-Laos border area of Quang Binh province. Most of these migrants are young, both married and unmarried. However, labor migration among ethnic minorities still faces many challenges, including high poverty rates, low education and labor quality, and limited social networks. Over the past ten years, labor export has attracted the interest of young Bru-Van Kieu people, but the initial costs remain high, and overcoming ethnic psychological barriers is difficult. Therefore, increased efforts are needed from all levels of administration to facilitate recruitment and ensure the rights of migrant workers who are ethnic minorities from mountainous border areas like the Bru-Van Kieu.
