Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh was a famous Vietnamese monk who influenced Western Buddhism. He founded the engaged Buddhism movement in the American-Vietnamese war to call for peace, and this movement has been maintained in contemporary times with the nature of engaged Buddhism. He was also the father of “mindfulness practice”, a form of engaged Buddhism, a practice that helps people maintain awareness and peace in modern life. The profound knowledge of traditional Buddhism was clearly explained by him through more than hundreds of books, and proven by his own life, and a large community of righteous thoughts who maintains the modern engaged Buddhism. The article indicates Thich Nhat Hanh’s Engaged Buddhism through its historical aspects, philosophical nature and practical influence on contemporary society.
